Inspiring: Nordstrom ft Disabled

by debbievanderputten

Most of the time we only hear people complaining about the fact that we don’t see disability in fashion.
Little do we know that there are companies out there, that have been using disability in their campaigns for years.
One of those companies is U.S. fashion retailer Nordstrom since 1991 they are reflecting the diversity of the communities they serve in their advertising. They consistently use models from a variety of backgrounds, which include age, race and disability, and advertise in diverse publications, both locally and nationally.

They have had some stunning models posing for them through the years here a few of their advertisements

Pushgirl Angela Rockwood for Nordstrom in 1997

In the late nineties they used straightsize and disabled models in one campaign

their 2011 campaign showed a little boy with down syndrom posing with 2 other kids

I love what Nordstrom has done in the past and can’t wait to see more from the in the future, its my big dream to be in one of their campaigns one day
